HyeConnect & ASOF Meet to Discuss National Potential

15/12/23

In cooperation with the Armenian Virtual College, HyeConnect hosted an in-person meeting with two esteemed members of our community, Armenian Society of Fellows representatives and professors Dr. Vatche Sahakian and Dr. Aleksandr Gevorkian. We had the chance to represent HyeConnect’s recent development and receive crucial insights on community building between the homeland and the diaspora. Dr Sahakian introduced us to the organizational workflow of already over 300 diasporan scientists within ASOF and brought forward the key mechanisms and features that their collaborative process requires.  Following the recent discourse of national potential we discussed the diaspora’s power to influence Armenia’s international standing and image. Dr. Gevorkyan’s recent study for the IOM Development Fund stipulated the vitality that science and education play on Enhancing Development through Diaspora Engagement in Armenia. AVB also introduced their educational network and provided us with valuable data regarding diaspora engagement in the education of the Armenian language, history and so on. Potential trilateral collaborations with HyeConnect, AVB and ASOF were also discussed. Our productive talk yielded great insights into the areas of focus and provided much-needed guidance in directing homeland and diaspora efforts into one stream.
