Khachkar Virtual Museum

This project aim at creating a virtual 3D khachkar repository which will be populated by contributions according to the crowdsourcing schema. People may upload various fotographs from a single khachkar and the system will build a model of it. Users may also use the platform to create their own khachkar exhibitions in a "storytelling" style. The aim of this project is prmarily educational

I would like to share with you and ask for your help to expand my Khachkar 3D digital museum which you can access under: http://saduewa.dcc.uchile.cl/museum (it takes some 4-5 minutes to start the first time you access it). This is a preliminary prototype which we want to expand adding more functionalities and improving the interaction. The idea is that you can build your own khachkar exhibition choosing from the 3D model currently available. The basic instructions are: click the URL, wait until it starts, choose one scenario to build your exhibition. Once in the scenario, you can explore the exhibition using the mouse and the arrows keys. By typing a 't' you can enter the edition where you can add more khachkars clicking on the + icon, which shows icons of the stones currently available. You can move them, rotate them, delete them, etc. by typing the 'p' you can return to the exploration mode. We are now trying to put more models and for that I need your help, since you are often photographing khachkars. I need as many videos of khachkars as possible. The videos should be 30 to 45 seconds long and should take a 360 view of the stone (like the video attached to this post). You can send me them by email to email: [email protected] or share them in this Facebook group. I would also like to hear you advice about how to enhance this project. If you liked it, I can end you more information about how to operate the software and I would be very happy to hear your advice about how to improve the software. Since it is implemented in unity most browsers on mobile phones cannot run the project but any browser on desktop or laptop computer will do. Hope to hear from you soon.
